Honey Badger vs Night Owl: Which Fade the World Product Is Right for You?
Two of Kaine's most-used products, two completely different jobs. Here's how to pick the right one for your client.
Honey Badger and Night Owl are both from the Fade the World line, both made in-shop, and both genuinely excellent. But they're built for different purposes, and picking the wrong one will give you the wrong result.
Honey Badger
Honey Badger is a hold product. Medium-to-firm hold with a natural, non-greasy finish. It's workable — meaning you can restyle it throughout the day without it getting stiff or flaky. It works on fine to medium hair and is the go-to for clients who want structure without looking like they tried too hard.
Use it when: The client wants texture, definition, or a clean natural look. Works well with any scissor cut or a fade that needs the top styled down.
Night Owl
Night Owl is a finishing product. It's lighter, adds sheen, and is designed to be used after the primary styling is done. It tames frizz, adds a clean finish, and gives that "fresh out of the shop" look that lasts. It's not a hold product — don't use it to create structure.
Use it when: The client wants a polished, finished look. Works great on natural hair, twists, waves, and as a final step over any style.
Using Both Together
The combo that works best: Honey Badger to build structure while the hair is damp, Night Owl as a finisher when the style is dry. Clients with coarser hair especially benefit from this layering approach — hold underneath, shine and frizz control on top.
Both are available in the store. If a client has never tried either, Honey Badger is the better starting point — it's more versatile and works on more hair types out of the box.
